Can the current education system be moulded to bring it out?

India is a major exporter of IT and BPO services and the IT industry continues to be the largest private sector employer in India. However, a recent study classifies that only 4.77% candidates from Engineering colleges can write the correct logic for a programme, a minimum requirement for any programming job. It also claims that 95% of engineers in the country are not fit to take up software development jobs. The study further noted that while more than 60% candidates cannot even write code that compiles, only 1.4% can write functionally correct and efficient code.

According to the HRD ministry, India has 6,214 engineering and technology institutions which enroll 2.9 million students annually. Around 1.5 million engineers are released into the job market every year, however, only 7 percent engineering graduates are suitable for core engineering jobs.

This trophy invites ideas for a healthier education system that churns out students with ability to apply themselves and innovate.
